Are the requirements as intense and competitive for Helicopter Pilots (through the Army or something) as opposed to Jet Pilots?

I would think its easier to be a Pilot for transport type aircraft opposed to attack type aircraft.

You can be a helicopter pilot as a warrant officer, not sure of requirements but its easier than going thru the AF or Navy pilot hoops for sure.

When you apply / get accepted you get accepted as an aviator, not a jet pilot, not a helo pilot, not a prop pilot, not a rocket pilot.......just a pilot.

It is not easy with any branch, stop looking for whats easy it isn't there. If you want to apply...then apply, call your recruiter.

They will not give out multi million dollar peices of equipment that fly and kill, to anyone, just b/c they think it would be a fun/cool job. If you are looking for the "easiest" route to flying, go private because there is no "easy" on the path you are looking at.

When I through the term easy out, its all relative. I know none of these paths are "easy". And I am not as interested in a private licesnse because the military is much easier finacially. And besides that, I have an interest in the military...maybe I am just seeking a sense of accomplishment and pride...something I think a job in the military can provide. Also, I would want to find something that is "easier" if I feel that maybe I am not able to complete the training for something as intense as a Fighter Pilot.

All that aside, I did find, for example, that the Warrant Officers through the Army (who have the option to go through Flight Training for Helicopters) are not required to have a college degree. Just one example of how that route might seem.....easier....
