On yahoo, there was a headline that read, "Vintners recall 1947 summer heat."

Actually, I think what usually happens is the aliens invade, kill everybody, and then he steps in...

Larry Flynt and Gary Coleman are officially in the race, too. Ah...California. Nice place, but I'm glad I don't live there.

All of this is contingent on Grey Davis being recalled first, right?

Arnie now gets the challenge of reviving one of the most f****d up economies of all the states... Good luck!

Davis will be back on the ballot, all he needs is 65 signatures and $3,500. Considering the competition he's up against, he might just win again lol.

(and it's a shame he's taking the fall for Cali's economy when the entire nation is in an economic coma)

He only has something like a 26% approval rating, so his chances of reelection against someone like Ahnold are pretty slim. He's not taking the fall for California's economy, either. It's for his mismanagement of money and not doing anything about it at all.

California's economy is a joke atm. 38 billion in the red. This recall election however is an even bigger joke.

Actually Akronn all signs point to the rest of the country slowly but surely recovering. California just sinks deeper and deeper into debt tho.

Abi you still have to vote. The petition is only to get the recall put to ballot.

I don't really see him winning either way. Why doesn't he just leave? :/ Recalls are humiliating.. what ever happened to honor?

Arnold as Governor of California seems comical but I see it as a huge possibility... and he'll be elected and will serve those that put him into office, big business republicans... they love to put actors into office (G.W.'s state of the union should be nominated for a dramatic emmy) and I'm sure they'll spend enough on his campaign to see him into the state house... the governorship of california also served as the beginning for another republican actor, Ronald Reagan, who during his presidency dragged the country into massive debt via an arms race with the Soviet Union...

my prediction with Arnold in office is increased cuts to social programs and more breaks for the wealthy... after all, they paid for him to be there... I'm looking forward to stupid people in california b******g in 2 years when their former hippie state becomes a oligarchic regime bent on squeezing every last dime from the working class... taxes, fees, excises, you name it, you're paying it... all so arnold can smoke cigars with the wealthly fatcats in hopes of someday running for the oval office....

the only thing more frightening than this thought is that they're also paying for a campaign for Ohio State Senate featuring slimetime TV host Jerry Springer... utterly unreal.

Damn. One of those posts that is so wrong that I need to itemize:
-Arnold is a liberal Republican and claims to be liberal on many social issues. He actually supports social programs, but is fiscally conservative.
-Not that I care, but for California's sake, he should cut as many useless programs as possible. Remember, the state is nearly $40 billion in debt and can't afford them.
-How do Republicans love to put actors into office? Can you name any other prominent Republican actors holding office?
-Arnold can't run for president, since he was born in Austria. Read your constitution.
-Republicans like, but don't love, the idea of Arnold taking office because he is, as I said, a liberal Republican.
-Republicans did not pay for Springer to run for office. Springer is a Democrat. Not to mention the fact that he's not even running. He announced that he wasn't going through with it a couple days ago.
-oligarchic regime? This is a state with powers inferior to the national level. No state could ever be an "oligarchic regime."

And in doing so destroyed the biggest threat to the US in history (the Soviet Union) and established the United States as by far the most powerful country in the world. Well worth some debt.

California is not a liberal state, just along the coast it is. There was a republican governor before Grey Davis, and if the Republicans had put someone even passable up to run against Davis in the last election, there would be one now. Anybody but a fundamentalist with a long history of very shady business dealings could have beat davis.

I'm gonna vote for Arnie just because it would be so damn funny to see him on TV every day.
