I hate Gray Davis but this recall is simply a joke and I don't support it at all. If someone is voted to office, he should be entitled to those 4 years and not have to worry about loopholes that the Conservative Republicans want to take advantage of simply because they f****d up in not choosing the right candidate in Richard Rioirdan and picking Bill Simon instead. This is just going to be a circus with 300 plus candidates making a mockery of the political process.
Arnold has a good shot but he may get crucified by the political press since he tends to waffle on ideological issues but it should be interesting what Riordan does after Arnold clearly backstabbed him. Gallagher, Gary Coleman, Larry Flynt, Arianna Huffington and now Arnold all running. God Hepl Us. =o

While I don't entirely disagree with this statement I just had to point out that the US Constitution is not a loophole Silly gnome...

Yes, the recall process has been around quite a bit longer than the Republican or Democratic parties have...
No loophole was used here, just a judgement call on whether 'gross negligence or incompetence' was involved on Davis's part. That is to be decided in the most clear way possible, a vote.
You are correct though, this will be a zoo. Hopefully it's a zoo that will end up being worth it for California.
I am not one who thinks being a career politician makes you MUCH better qualified for a position however, so I wouldn't cry over Arnold winning. Being a good politian for the PEOPLE (not your career) requires you to have common sense, a strong backbone, and good communication skills.

WHAT.. NO WAY .. I thought what made a good politician is being in bed with as many big money corps as you can and doing what they tell you???

ARNALD running is interesting in itself. Who knows, his liberal twists might have some good politics behind it. But does this mean if hes elected? no more arnald movies???!@ omg no terminator 4?!
but who cares, California is the rotting state of the US. Eventually it will decay and break apart from the rest of the country. hopefully from a big enough quake.

Actually, the recall is unique to California and is not in the US Constitution. It was indoctrined in the California Constitution in 1911 and has been unused since it's inception. Until now. The thing I don't like about the recall is the fact that Issa, a mulit-millionaire who ironically dropped out of the running, funded the recall effort by himself using out of state workers to acquire signatures. These gatherers were paid per signature and although may not be illegal, it just doesn't seem ethically or morally right to me andsimply opens the doors for any rich mofo who doesnt like the outcome of an election to come in and create perpetual drama on a whim. Now we have to go through this circus seeing everyone from porn stars to Angelyne and Carrot Top making a mockery of the political process.
I'm probably going to vote against the recall but if I have to vote for a candidate, my first choice will be Riordan is he runs or Peter Ueberroth, former LAOC USOC Commisioner and Baseball Comissioner Candidate.

For all of you who are not in california and are glad that you aren't here, I think I speak for most californians when I say, f**k you and we are even more glad that you are not here.
I originally voted for Gray Davis in order to keep a Dan Lungren, a jack booted nazis thug, the former state attorney general who condoned the murder of an innocent man so the state could seize his property, from winning the governorship. I wish I had a better choice at the time, because I am very sorry I voted for Davis.
Gray Davis is a political w***e of the worst kind. Only party hacks support him. He has allowed the state's legislature to squander a surplus and turn it to a huge deficit that will take years to pay down. I say allowed, because in the state of california the governor has line item veto authority and he could have kept the state from this crisis if he had the integrity to do so. He was also a patsy in the energy debacle and while Bush's buddies set him up, he took the bait and screwed us by locking us into outrageously high priced contracts for years. BTW, those contracts could be legally voided if the Davis would stipulate to the fact that the man negotiating those contracts on behalf of california was on the payroll of Edison International which was the biggest benefactor of those contracts as it kept it from going bankrupt. Under California law, a contract signed with such a clear case of conflict of interest is an illegal contract. Davis won't do it, because he would have to admit to making a big mistake by letting that guy be the negotiator.
As far as Arnold goes, first of all he isn't a neo-con christian facist Republican. His interests are moderate republican with an emphasis on fiscal responsibility. Some people say he is inexperienced, but guess what, all the crooks we have in government these days are very experienced and look at the criminally negligent job they have done. He won't be on the hooks to special interest as he doesn't need to w***e himself out for campaign money. Also, he isn't interested in support from the RNC as he says this is a Californian matter and Californians will take care of it.
This recall will send a message to out of touch extremists in the democratic party in California.
Too bad there isn't a recall provision for President because Bush has done a worse job in leading this nation than Davis has done leading this state.
Extremist politicians and their lackeys, the party hacks who vote for a party rather than the issues are the biggest danger to country these days. A change in people's involvement in the running of their government is way over due.
Its time to boot out the extremist in both the republican and democratic parties and empower people with moderate, centrist views.

I live in CA and usually I don't even vote, but Arnold is the pwn. Grey Davis just keeps f*****g up our economy worse so I don't think it's difficult for Arnold to do a better job at this point. Only time will tell I suppose

Why is it that people are stupid if they don't agree with liberals? Makes me think of fascism.

I see you took me up on the advice NWS!
My issues with Abibabi extend beyond just this message board, I have known him longer than I have known who you were prolly.
DeLay and Ashcroft aren't just conservatives, they are dangerous. DeLay with his evangelical hordes, supporting Israel because of the "prophecies" of what happens when the Jewish state is restored, or some shit, that's pretty outlandish..
Ashcroft for his trying to turn the U.S. into a police state where the government can take you without notifying your relatives or giving you right of due process, the already-covered (literally) issue with him and the Justice statue.. etc.
Scary shit

10 years ago I was much worse, I have mellowed with age my friends tell me. But even in my prime I was nothing campaired to my hero the G man.
HE is the scariest guy in the US.

I don't agree with Ashcroft on a lot of things. However, I'm hardly scared of him. If his policies go too far, his power will simply be limited by the political process.

I do pay attention, and I have to call b******t on that one.
My day consists of Realpoor, Rush and Glenn Beck, so it's pretty much like this:
"This liberal whackos/morons/idiots/nutjobs/freaks/hippies/blah blah blah blah blah blah *radio commercial for Ovaltine!*"
