Age of Conan Open Beta May 1st
| Quote: | Funcom has announced that the population of Hyboria will grow by 50,000 starting May first as that is the date that the open beta for Age of Conan will begin.
50.000 aspiring barbarians may enter Hyboria on May 1st 2008.
Funcom, Eidos and IGN are proud to announce that Open Beta for Age of Conan will start on May 1. The Open Beta will be hosted exclusively by IGN’s popular game download site, FilePlanet.com, as well as being offered through partner IGN sites such as Gamespy.com, Tentonhammer.com and Warcry.com. The application pages at FilePlanet.com are now open for registrations, and gamers from across the world can sign up. As 50.000 gamers prepare their Hyborian assault, rivers of blood are about to flow, and it’s exclusively available through FilePlanet and IGN partner sites. |

From our readings, it appears open beta will only allow levelling to 13, and is only valid for paying fileplanet customers.
This is seperate from the closed beta, which doesn't have a level cap.
Pre-orders should also get into a beta slightly before launch.

I don't like the fact that you have to be a file planet subscriber in order to get in on it...

I am a subscriber, hope i can get in 50k to check it out. I participated in a singe Tech test, but 45 minuts of a very buggy gameplay is not really enough for me.

For those who didnt know, you need to be a premium subscriber. So you need to pay $5 to subscribe with a credit card to have access to downloading the beta. Unlucky for me i found this out after waiting ages clicking refresh every 5 mins. (I refuse to pay the $5 for something i'll never use again.)
If anyone gets a beta key and cant run/dislikes the game and has no use for the key, please let me know. I want to test if my pc can run it on the lowest settings.
