I'm employed by a company made in Heaven. 5-star hotels are free - or nearly free - worldwide. I fly at reduced rate on almost every airline company (ex: My NY flight cost me 34 euros) and I get 30 days of paid vacation. Salary is above average, everything is compensated for. When you think you're ready for a higher position they will give you the chance in one of their hotels with the option to return to head office if you want.
But ... it's in Belgium. Income tax kills you, life is crazy expensive in Brussels (real expat city) and europe just isn't my thing anymore.
So: I get a real good offer to work in Canada, be the coordinator for a well established company, responsable for the Benelux area. On top most of my friends & boyfriend live there.
Decided to give my notice. Eversince I'm losing it. I didn't go in yesterday & today - because I just can't do it. I bought a bottle of liquor (made only in my city) to kind of, I don't know, make it easier to quit on my boss. How would you handle it, what would you say? Can I say I love the job but it's for personal reasons?

Yes. That is exactly what you say, minus the booze. You need to go with the position that will make you the most happy.

Well the best and most understood reason would be the most simple i think too;
"I am doing whats in my best interest and its nothing personal, thanks for the experience - its made me what I am today and allowed me to pursue this opportunity."

I was in a similar situation, except with less estrogen. I recommend giving plenty of time to train your replacement. Don't give a 2-weeks notice (or did you say you already did?). Give like... 6 weeks.

I have to give 6 weeks, it's in my contract...
Why minus the booze? It's a terra-cotta bottle with aged 'jenever', only to be found in my city. He's a Norwegian national, they love to drink & he wouldn't know it. Is it tacky?

My advice is: dont quit!
Sounds like you have a dream job and men are a dime a dozen. Tell your boyfriend to f**k off and find a nice new Europeen. =)
Grass always looks greener on the other side, but usually isnt. Stay where you are and MAKE YOURSELF happy.
Europe is amazing and you can hop a train and travel whenever you wish. Your healthcare is probably provided for you and you get a month off annually. You have amazing day spas, skiing, and museums. When you need a break from Europe you have cheap air fare to visit the states for a month annually if you wish.
Canada sucks.
Dont become a job Gypsy.

Yeah I would keep the job, why on earth would you want to move to Canada?! Yeah you do alot of traveling, but thats by your choice for the most part, about coming here on the weekends to see your boyfriend, who I thought you broke up with... Didn't you f**k some guy you worked with after he told you, that you guys are done?
Keep your job, and enjoy the life as long as you can, sounds like you have a great job, a dream job for alot of people.

Well - try 49% income tax - I can't say provided healthcare cuts it for me. If I want to travel I'll use the 30% more salary I get from working in N-America. Besides, my healthplan will be covered by my employer - so will everything else.
It's more or less that - europe's great, beautiful and gorgeous - for vacation & retiring.
I just hate quitting here, that's all :-:

Stick with your gutfeeling. In my experience t usually points you in the right direction. Figure out what you think will make you most happy and go with it. If it's the bf, go with him, if it's the job, stick to that.
Don't let anyone make you feel guilty for your choices, including yourself.
You don't have to answer to anyone for your personal and/or career choices so stop worrying about how you're going to explain yourself. Simply don't.
Good luck.

49% income tax? Have you checked out the Canadian income tax brackets? I believe it tops out at 55%.

Steps:
1. Buy a dog.
2. Love it tenderly, feeding and walking the cute little thing as it needs it.
3. Shove it up an ass.

America does not recognize "dual" citizenship.

I don't get it... Did he get his dong yanked out from the inside and moved 10 inches northwest? I wonder if that's from a medical journal or from one of those BME/Nullo sites.
