I have an Abit mobo and while it's been great, the northbridge heatsink/fan has been a pain in the a*s.

I'm looking for a non-fan solution, and the Zalman ZM-NB32J looks like a worthwhile solution.

But I'd like some feedback from anyone who has a similar set up, or has some knowledge about northbridge cooling and would recommend a different product.

if you've overclocked your northbridge, you're going to want a heatsink/fan combo.

if it's just stock, that should do fine.

I don't get it? If it is working fine why change it? What are you interacting with your motherboard so much for? Laughing Are you a "virtual" reality??

I can't find a high quality northbridge fan. And if I don't require another bit of whining coming from my computer, I'd like to do without.

I am overclocking from 3.0ghz to 3.3, and it runs fine, but the stupid northbridge fan is sorta loud, and so was my last one.

But I guess if I do require a fan for it, then I'lljust stick with what I have.

3 words.

Zalman f*****g rocks.

I absolsmurfly love them and use them in EVERY system I build. I've never checked their North/Southbridge solutions out, but their engineering is rock solid stuff. Can't recommend them enough.

Having a full size silent case fane doing the work of a 7200rpm muffin fan is godly.. more cooling, almost 0 noise.

Stats on my 2.8mgz: (3.1 oc'd in line 3)

  • Room temp: 85F
  • CPU Temp: 99F
  • After 30 mins of Aquamark, SiSoft Sandra and StressLinux testing: 111-115F
  • After oc'ing and doing the same : 119F
