I see that this game is about to score the M rating, is that right? Well, while it may sound good for the players who consider themselves mature, I think they might be disappointed with the number of kids who will actually play the game. The rating, plus the promise of gore and ****, will attract the teenagers with their parents' credit cards, not deter them. Therefore, Funcom getting the M rating might be shooting itself in the foot. Discuss.

Yeah, it's been said before, and it's still a valid argument. You only have to look at the official forums to see the outstanding level of maturity (PIKACHUUU!) that defines the discussions there.

But what are you gonna do? Make the game more PC aiming for a lower rating, and get the same result only now you can get the censors on your ass too? *shrug*

Atleast some parents will have the sense not to allow their children to play M rated games. Or atleast we can hope.

Exactly, it will have a lot of kids. If it only peaks with 300-500k players and most are mature you won't find the same problems as in WoW for example. Kids are great in MMO's just in moderation.

Hey, I do watch Pikachu with my kids, and it is fun to say, just because someone is not socially developed as you would like, does not mean the person is a minor. However, if there is kids playing, you can only blame the parents for not doing their job. However, the gore, yes attracts anyone, and who cares if its kids or adults playing when it comes to it, if a 14 year old kid, can give me some fun in pvp, I really dont mind.

Honestly it doesnt matter where you go, 12 year old kids will be there. WoW, GW, AoC, Xbox Live (really bad for it, hate using my mic). There isnt anything to stop it, parents let their kids watch 15/18 movies, why are games any different? I was playing 18 rated games at age 8/9, even when i went online in games at 11-12 i never acted like "1337 kids" do today. The problem isnt all kids, i'd say i was in the small minority of mature kids in online gaming, now im 18 nothing has changed.

There is still a small minority of mature kids, but the general majority of them are loud, ignorant, annoying brats (play xbox live and listen to the singing/blowing into the mic/"oh i got another kill wooooo"). I would honestly like to see games take a stricter stance on immature behaviour in online gaming as it is ruining it for the rest of us. I hate having to pay monthly for xbox live to listen to some high-pitched whiny kids singing.

Who the hell cares? People complaining about a digital tit while theres more serious stuff being showed on tv, or alas, maybe your kid can access the internet? No parental control will stop a 12 year old from browsing porn if he wants to.

You need a credit card to play anyway and that doesn't stop 9 year old kids from playing WoW.

Also Age of Conan has nipples. 'Nuff said.

Unfortunately a lot of parents let their kids play games that are not age appropriate. I mean 10yo playing GTA is a little much. Unfortunately like just about everything though, if you tell a kid they cant have it they want it even more.

That being said i'm sure plenty of HS age kids will be playing AoC. I know that if i was in HS i would be...

it will happen that kids will be playing this game. Some parents dont care and others can get the game through other means and use a game card to play it. Either way I hope they give some challenge in pvp
