"Do TVs give off PSI waves, and will it give my baby cancer?"

Hmm
Not quite, but maybe if I didn't know this mother was an ignorant retard, I would have agreed (if it was worded a little better) that TVs will brainwash your children and infect thier minds like cancer.

Somehow, I doubt that was her line of thinking.

I hate mothers

If you have any emotional reactions to what you see on TV, you could say it is affecting and conditioning you the same way "psi waves" would. I would say she's right!

Does her baby get cancer because she sits in front of a TV all day? who knows... there's no study that can proof it doesn't, and it's impossible to have a meaningful one to such an end. So, technically, it's still a "remote possibility"

Just like cell phones and cancer - obviously they give off some radiation (just like the TV and Monitors) but if that's the reason someone got cancer? there's no way to tell. It may very well increase the chances though, just like eating burnt meat, getting a sunburn etc.

There is a link between cell phone towers and migraines though (I'll have to refer to european studies for this - due to population density they have to be build where people live -> good conditions for such a study), so those claiming there's absolutly no side effects are wrong. Whether or not it causes cancer is still open tho - I'd think it also depends on your use. People chatting on their cell phones 10hrs a day are probably subject to much more radiation than you'd get exposed to during "normal usage."

Also keep in mind that cell phones haven't been as popular 10 years ago as they are now - so there's still no long-term study.

Personally I think it's good that she's worried about her kid. Maybe a little over-protective, but the alternative could be far worse.

Sitting your baby in front of the TV all day while you do X is just as harmful as PSI waves. The baby's brain will slowly rot away as images flood its mind and condition it to accept TV's morals.

Whats scary is that as SM said is that this woman is more worried about cancer then the mind rotting b******t that television spews into childrens minds. Its not like the baby will be watching something reasonably educational at that age. It makes me sick that parents these days do NOT take a more logical and proactive approach to their childrens lives, you know like actually playing with them instead of setting them in front of the tv for movies and to watch shows.

I don't know what everyone here was like as a kid but I rarely watched tv I was too busy outside playing like kids should be doing.

Ok ok...
My point was;

The mother is a retard. She asked, "Do TVs give off PSI waves, and will it give my baby cancer?"

PSI waves have to do with telepathy, and I guess in a sense, you can actually come to a deeper meaning from her question (like both Mr. Dunn and I stated earlier) but thats not the state of mind the mother was in.

Let me rephrase her question; "Do TVs give off telepathic energy, and will the telepathic energy give my baby cancer". She obviously didn't know what PSI waves were, and just assumed that was what TVs gave off. It has been said that TVs and monitors give off small amounts of radiation, and thats probably what the mother meant, in which case, I would think her question a good one.

So the point of your post is to rant about a concerned mother's lack of knowledge about radiation?

Psychic waves count as radiation? Do they even exist? Please send me a whole carton of them!

It was a rant about the ignorance/stupidity of people as a whole.

Nobody is perfect and all knowing, I know, but the question the mother asked gave me a good laugh.

He knew what she meant, and I guess was ridiculing the woman for her ignorance of terminology?

Exactly

I guess I had the same attitude about people using the correct terminology until working at a hospital. At my very first meeting, I understood absolutely none of the jargon that these (presumably average) nursing administrators were using. Talk about a humbling experience.
