A few of you that still play may have noticed my EQ character, Devook, acting pretty f****d up as of late. I figured at least a few people got confused and I'm probably going to get shit for this later, so I figured I'd air it now.
Almost two months ago, I quit EQ. When I did, Ikkan, a good in-game friend of mine, offered to buy the account from me after he got back from his cruise. Since he already had the password, I just told him to send me a check for $200 when he got back. About a week after Ikkan gets back from vacation. I get an message over AIM from someone claiming that he had just recently bought the account(aka the name/password) for 400k from someone logged on as Devook and had tracked me down because he thought something was wrong with it. I had forgotten the secret answer to the question on the account that would allow anyone to change the password. Since this guy, the current owner of Devook, seemed to be on the level, I decided I wasn't going to go through customer service and j**k the account back from him and instead decided to try and get the secret answer so that he could claim the account and we'd be done with it. This is where it gets tricky...
In game, when on Devook, I would get tells from all sorts of different people claiming to own the account or know some other friend who owned the account. When I talked to Ikkan, he told me that he had given the password to a friend of his who had stolen a little over 200k worth of droppables and cash, and after that, he didn't know what happened to Devook because he stopped playing.
A few days later, I get another IM from the "current owner," telling me that Devook is now missing all of his stuff and has been de-leveled to 45. At about this time, I've finally convinced Customer Service that the account is mine and they reset the secret question for me to change, which I change, along with the password. Then, I spend another week convincing the GMs that the account was compromised on a basis other than me being a d*****s and get them to roll Devook back to 65 and put the nodrops that were deleted off him back on. Apparently my story checked out better than planned as many different people had been logging on to Devook with many different IPs in the last few days before my petition.
What's the point of putting all this out in the open? I've decided to keep Devook instead of turning him back over to the "current owner." The GM's mention of "several ips" and the general sketchiness of his story have helped me to decide that even if this guy really really did buy the account honestly from whoever was selling it and just got ripped himself, he deserved it for being stupid enough to buy an account through the auction channel without original cd keys, first and last 4 digits of the original credit card, or at least the secret answer to the question that allows you to change the password.
I figure I'm gonna get blasted about this soon, so I figured I'd do it first. Especially if I decide to actually sell Devook, I'd want the buyer to know exactly what went on before and that there isn't going to be a residual threat to the account.

So did Ikkan ever pay you for the account? I remember a while back someone lent Ikkan his/her account which Ikkan promptly sold, or something to that effect. Either way it looks like Ikkan sold the account to several people!

As for the dickweed who bought your account, maybe he should take the 400k pp he paid for it, exchange them for 1 cent coins each and then stick them up his admittedly fat ass.
Ikkan should be tied up, thrown into a bathtub and be burned alive.
That is all. Damn, I don't even know you guys, I couldn't give two s***s about your accounts, yet here I am flaming you. It is fun!

Lol, when i sold my account it was to a marine. We talked for like an hour about the military and such just for the hell of it over the phone. Had lunch with him one day when he was driving thru here too. Good guy.

Selling Elavis was neat. The guy who bought him (he got a really, really good deal) continued to level and play him for quite a while. Allegedly he resold the bard, and I thought about stealing him back. But then I realized I sold him because I'm sick of barding, and no amount of mana song for my bots can change that.

Same Kinda thing happened to me with Spitulski's Account. I had the account, Payed plat for it, talked to the dude over the phone, blah blah blah..
Then i get a tell from Spit on another charachter saying it was jacked blah blah blah....
He offers to buy the account back from me in plat so that noone gets ripped off, for like 200 or 250k... less than i payed for it. I thought it was all good, cause i knew Spit in BC and stuff, figurted hed go thru with it. Then i try to log spit in one day and the account is ganked back and i dont have my 200k..
Just proves one thing, unless you ahve keys and the First 4 and last 4 numbers on a CC, buying a account 99% of the time its gonna get jacked.
/shrug i chalked it up for experience, plat is worthless anyhow anymore.

That's the one I was thinking of... and when he was in CB he took some weapon he was lent and claimed it "poofed" from his inventory. When he was told to have a GM confirm this he refused, and he was GR'd for it. Then later on realpoor he said he gave the weapon to a mage pet or some shit.

I heard tales that I didn't even know Devook's infos after he changed it the first time ;(

Hey, I didn't say it was true, that's just what I was told. Anywayz though, nobody could have changed the info because nobody knew the secret answer to the question that you need to answer to change the info.

Naw, it was the first time. I had access to Devook to PL myself so I wouldn't have to level, then the info got changed!

Hah, I remember seeing Devook and Masuriya in CoD when we were getting ready for Carp or Bertox. Masuriya got himself killed like 4 times pulling the named pusling + like 4 others and trained it all on us. I was like, "Man, these guys are idiots." But now at least I know that there was only one idiot! Of all the places to run a Shaman/Ranger duo, CoD seems like possibly the worst.

I had one rooted, plus I was just 2-boxing again, it sucks on a laptop lolz =/
Also, it was only 2!
Also, no one cares if CB gets trained ;(
