If you decide to not go Jedi it's still pretty fun. PvP is pretty broken but you can also avoid that and have fun. The kicker is ... you can even avoid PvE and have fun ! 
I have 2 accounts. One is a Master Scout/Squad Leader/CH/Pistoleer with enough power to go hunting on my own and I do well in a group in PvE. My other account is a Master Artisan / Master Image Designer / Master Chef with a shop I run with a Master Architect / Master Tailor.
Don't feel like fighting? I run quests. Don't feel like running around at all? I'll experiment on food products or engineered stuff, do survey runs or hell, sit in my shop and wait for people to come by who want their hair done or a new set of clothes.
Don't get me wrong, I see some big problems in the game that lessen the overall quality of it, but when was the last time you had this much freedom overall to do what you felt like doing in a game? I hope that they get their shit fixed to save their rapidly dropping player base but by no means do I think the game is unplayable.

Nah are you a reb or imp on corbantis? You probably know my brother and his/my RL friend.
My brother is a dev for lucas arts/SWG, btw. You can ask him in game and he'll log on his csr account to show you heh

My brother and his friend have a city on Dath called Obliette(sp) or some shit. Named after that brutal french prison.
Valance is mine/my brothers friends architect but I can't remember what his main chars name is. My brother is Erutan, hes an idiot, almost as I am.

A few corrections. I am in the same guild as Erutan. I know *exactly* who he is. My comments will stop there I can only say, this explains a lot.
The name of the guild is II (Indigo Industries) therefore the name of the town changed from Oubliette to Indigo. An oubliette is not THE place, but A place.. it's sort of like a dry well. You toss people in there when you want to forget about them. Hence Oubliette.. older translation of "forgotten" or so I have read.
