From Rolling Stone:

http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/_/id/6596661/500songs

Apparently, the best song of the last 10 years is Eminem's Lose Yourself, coming in at 166 overall.

the top 50 are the same shit as always, the other 450 are based upon how much the record companies who still schlep the shit were willing to pay RS to list them.

Stevie Ray Vaughn got screwed over bad by this list. He should have at the least 1 if not 2 top 50 songs. After reviewing I see he has no songs in the top 500, that is f*****g bogus.

And it's just totally a coincidence that Rolling Stone Magazine picked Like a Rolling Stone as the number one song of all time Confused

It was kind of cool to see The Weight at number 41; I didn't think anybody remembered that song. I think it's kind of lame that Every Breath You Take is the best Police song. The Sounds of Silence should have been higher. Radar Love should have been on there someplace.

What they're trying to say here is that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was an important song (it was, as far as the Grunge movement was concerned).

That list is screwed.

Saying Nirvana was important for the grunge, ok.

But where is Queen on that list, they were not important enough? Razz

I was reading the intro. How could they POSSIBLY make this statement: "The highest-ranked Beatles-related song is from 1971: John Lennon's utopian dream "Imagine," America's alternative national anthem since 9/11."

"Imagine" is America's alternative national anthem since 9/11? Huh? Maybe "Onward Christian Soldiers", but hardly Imagine.

Which reminds me - I totally expected the Buffalo Springfield song to stage a huge comeback during the presidential election, and I'm astonished that it didn't. This is just as relevant today as the day it was written:

Quote:
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

At least it made the list Smile

reading comprehension > Sinraken

By alternative anthem they mean different from the mainstream American majority that supports the war on terror. The anthem of the anti-war peace activists and most of the Democrats. The idiots who think we need to understand Islam better and apologize for our own supremacy. Imagine blah blah blah

I always hated that song, nothing but idealistic utopian socialist horseshit. There will always be bad people in this world, and sometimes you need to deal with them through the use of force.

A list for nostalgic pieces of shit with a few current pop hits thrown in to appease the young'uns, BUT I AM NOT APPEASED!

Weezer has a lot more to offer than Buddy Holly, and how come there are no songs by Bloodhound Gang on the list.
