Works great with EQwindows. www.eqwindows.com (don't ask me for help, plenty of help on their page)
2ghz pentium 4, 1.25GB ram, GF4Ti4200 128mb video ram.
I know some have ran 3 on less computer than I am using.

Would 256mb RAM be enough or should you push for 512ish before trying it?

I've run 3 EQW sessions on an Athlon 500 with 512 megs.
Ran very smoothly, only lagged when zoning.

Spink 256M I think would be pushing it.
I run two EQW on:
athlon 1.4, 512 M, geforce 3 - I have each session runnign in 800x600 and have no new models on at all - and when im loading up the accounts the second chugs and once loaded it pages onto disk every few mins as its out of ram. This causes the occasionaly 1-2 second pause.
I think having 256m would make it worse.
Still if I didnt have EQW then eq would have been deleted a long time ago.

256 Ram is fine. I can duel bot on the same computer with it. Zone times are huge, but once you have both chars in the same zone there is no lag.

I can run 2 windows at 800x600 no models, spell effects off with 16mb radeon mobility and 256 DDR ram.
Only takes a while to get the second account into the game (2-3 mins from scratch to game.)

Definitely turn off new models and keep particles off of high settings, or you'll have video lag.

I have run two sessions on two machines simultaneously so 4 toons in game.. PAIN IN THE ASS WHEN PORTING AROUND AND AUTO FOLLOWING!!!! Just had to say that... On my second machine it was a bit slow with zoning, but it only has 394 ram. On my main machine the 1 gb ram helps immensly

hate to be the dictionary cop here but
"eqs" not "eq's"
eq's means possession .. so like some guy named eq having eq's would be like .. something that belonged to him ..
eqs means multiple of eq ..
just remember that for whenever it comes up ..

I run a similar Athalon and 512 meg ram. Have easily had 3 instances of EQ on one box - very confusing till you figgure out the sequence the sessions are tabbed in the queue. Lag is not so much because of the computer and EQW tryign to access the same files three times over as it is our 26k connection - I miss DSL Someday maybe satalite will deal with the latency issue and will be an acceptable option for online gaming.
One thing I have noticed to manage lag is once my first toon is in game, if I babysit the connection and wait to alt+tab around till the second toon is past the character select screen I will not have much video lag. However, if I alt+tab while the program is getting to the server select or while it's accessing the character select screen, I will have unbareable video lag.

1gig ram has been around for 11years(and higher) , IBM was first to produce. Plant is not too far from my house. I have one first few built as Key chain.
Most memory manufactures produce it now a days. Just isn't a stock item.
Alot of them have 4gig stick as well, probly be common in next 6-8months.

most mobo's don't suppor more then 4gig on the consumer level for workstations and personal computers. If you look at server boards.. that's a different situation. However, I wonder how a worksation board would handle a 4gig stick. Although the cost would be so much more then just buying 4 1gigs..
anywho.. yeah i had to comment on that.
