I've seen the first and second one in real time, and first thing that came out of our mouths was "Holy sshit, independence day, its one of those mother ships from the movie, and the scary thing was it was on July 3rd haha

They do look like the midwest.
I watched a show on tornados and it said supercells, GIANT clouds formed from the cool Canadian air coming south and warm Mexican and Gulf air moving north across the plains, spawn one or multiple tornados.
Those tornados are miniscule compared to the supercell.

I get pics like that sent to me every once in a while. I have a buddy that I graduated high school with that went to school for meteorology and he is now a storm chaser.
Those pics are alot like the ones he sends me every now and then. pretty wicked, but I'll be damned if I would be that close to take them.
